The audi a6 e-tron what is it well it's a premium electric car aimed at people who are cross-shopping

either  mercedes eqs or a tesla model s but the big difference here is that.

it's available in two different body styles.

some basic specs for both cars the a6 each one concept has a large 100 kilowatt-hour battery pack that

should  deliver a range of 435 miles it'll have recharge times of 5 to 80 in under 25 minutes and top

models will do not to 62 in less than four seconds oh and most  importantly of all they're not too

shabby in the styling department either both these cars look great don't they.

i mean the fact that neither of them is an suv or a crossover is enough to get my  vote but genuinely

they do look stunning massive though this thing is the same size as the fastback but it's nearly five

meters in length and almost two meters in width so technically it probably takes up about the same

amount of space on the road as an suv but genuinely to my eyes great looking car i love this roof line

the way it just swoops all the way back tapering off to this roof spoiler at the rear and although it's a

concept car and the interior is not finished you do get a sense that the estate especially is going to give

you a significant amount of headroom in the back and also hopefully a decent amount of space in the

boot as well.

From the front both cars are clear  evolutions on familiar audi design themes both have the same grille

outline known as the audi single frame but in this case there's no actual grille the front is almost

completely smooth with a cool illuminated audi logo metallic eachone lettering near the splitter and

some highly advanced headlights to put it.

Now these are cool for several reasons first of all they're audi's skinniest headlights ever in case

you were wondering and because they're active matrix they can also project a full beam on the road

ahead to illuminate your path without dazzling other road users but perhaps more interestingly not

from a safety perspective but from an ego perspective you can actually customize these lights to.

However you prefer if you look closely there are essentially three rows

of lights and you can choose which one of these lights light up in a pattern of  your choice you can

have random dots scattered around you can have an l shape you can have a c shape you can have a nike

swoosh whatever you like it's very clever maybe the craziest feature of these headlights is that they

actually work as projectors hypothetically if you parked up in front of a large wall you can actually

beam an image from the lights onto that wall to allow you to watch a movie or play a video game in

black and white of course audi demonstrated this using an admittedly made-up computer game but it

does show you what's possible and how cars might be able to entertain owners while they charge for

example speaking of projectors there are four projectors located on each corner of the car that can

actually project images onto the floor while the car indicates now the idea being that as people

approach the vehicle they'll see exactly.

which way your a6 is about to turn it's a very clever feature technically it's not legal quite yet but to my

eyes this looks like a really cool safety feature and over time maybe this might come into play in the

real world.

Audi must have got a batch of  these on the cheap because there are three more small high-res

projectors built into each side of the car and these can throw lighting effects onto the ground to

welcome you into the vehicle or to warn other road users like cyclists that the doors are about to

open and that maybe they should stay away i wonder if there's a way for those to stay on permanently

now i want to draw your attention to the rear lights which are very funky indeed

they go the entire width of the car with this illuminated audi logo in the center and what's different

about these lights is unlike most cars which have led lights at the rear these are oh leds

organic light emitting diode which is similar technology to what you'll find on high-end elevisions now

ordinarily leds will form part of a really thin strip but these oleds if you lookclosely have individual

oled elements that are positioned in slightly different areas of space inside the rear and that's allowed

audi to be quite creative with the level of detail and intricacy that you get from these quite fascinating

animations.
